While walking Tilly around the yard we saw all sorts of old barge pieces and equipment, early on we spotted an anchor of 100Kg that would really suit Waterdog so made and offer and soon had the anchor hanging from the bow in the dry dock. Our existing 2 anchors of 50Kg were viewed as too small for the boat so this one seemed to be perfect.
Old anchor as we found it in the yard, we used bathroom scales to weigh it and we recognised it as coming off a local boat that was shortened to avoid the TRIWV certification ie under 20m long. It no longer had space for its 3 anchors. |
With the anchor lowered into the dry dock and then lifted on our chain, Lorna could paint the new anchor. :-) |
The new anchor looks splendid hoisted up to the bow. The old 50Kg anchor on the port bow will now be up for sale as a pair. This is the boat finished and ready for floating! :-) |

Suddenly they were ready to float the 2 barges in the dry dock and opened the valves, it took several hours to fill while we checked our new through hull fittings and seacocks, etc. On the right Waterdog was still hard aground but the water had 0.5m to go. She was looking great though!
